Riverbar & Kitchen: Cocktails & Views

There was a big cavity on the riverfront since the Boardwalk Bar & Bistro at Eagle Street Pier closed down. It was a crime to leave such a unique spot on the Brisbane River without a fitting venue for so long. So it was with much anticipation that Brisbane greeted it’s new addition in December last year, and Riverbar & Kitchen has not disappointed. Riverbar & Kitch is a joint operation from Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan, in partnership with Solotel Hospitality Management.

Only a short distance from Matt Moran’s Aria (also at Eagle Street Pier), Riverbar & Kitchen has a very different look, layout, menu and feel to that of Aria. Beautifully complimenting the laidback Queensland lifestyle in all these elements.

The venue is designed around three main areas, the Beer Garden, surrounded by tropical plants and with that ideal front row seat to the River and Story Bridge, the Dining Area inside where you can select from booth-style lounges or high tables, and the 26-meter-long-bar, behind which several big screen televisions sit (just in case the view of the Story Bridge gets a little tiring).

The décor is a somewhat quirky but a fantastic amalgamation of yacht club with an inner-city buzz.

With a menu that is fitting to the venue and location, that also will not leave a hole in your pocket, as well as a great wine list, they also have a great cocktail 14-strong cocktail menu, which is proving to be incredibly popular. Here’s a sneak speak to some of the faves:

China doll: Absolut elyx, muddled lemongrass, ginger, orange blossom
Geisha goodtime: Belvedere pure, sake, lychee, rose petals
Peru y chile sour: Pisco, muddled pineapple, coriander, house sour mix
Cuba by night: Havana 7yo, muddled blackberry & lemon, coconut liqueur, young coconut

Pimm’s No.1: Pimm’s, Beefeater gin, strawberry, cucumber, lemonade
Pomegranate & basil margarita: Espolon blanco, lime, pomegranate liqueur, torn basil, grapefruit juice
Watermelon & mint caipirahina: Wyborowa vodka, watermelon, lime, mint, soda

Day or night the location is beautiful, the food and bevvies are beautiful, no excuses now, take it off the “must go and check it out” list and find out for yourself!

Open 7 days: Weekdays 7am until late, Weekends 8am until late.
