Hospitality Awards 2013

This week has been a BIG week for food and hospitality industry awards. In spite of 2012 being a challenging year for the industry, many restaurants/venues have been successful in thriving and producing great results.

On Monday the Queensland Good Food Guide, announced it’s annual awards at Lightspace in Fortitude Valley, then on Tuesday the Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence were held at BCEC (Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Center). Each of the awards showcased some of Queensland’s best.

When the Queensland Good Food Guide, announced it’s annual awards at Lightspace in Fortitude Valley on Monday night, there were 45 Queensland restaurants awarded one or more hats. Our hats off to one of our longstanding valued advertisers, Il Centro for winning the “Silver Service Award” and “Highly Commended” award. To read more about who was awarded, click HERE. The Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence at BCEC on Tuesday night awarded one of our valued advertisers, Coolum Surf Club,  with the “Best Club Sunshine Coast” and “Club Chef of the Year” (Paul Tait).

Dining Out spoke with General Manager, Malcolm Wright and Supporters Club President John Ellingsen, and they were extremely proud to accept the Clubs Queensland “Best Club Sunshine Coast” trophy on behalf of the club and all it’s fantastic staff who have worked very hard over the past 12 months to provide a family friendly and enjoyable dining and recreation facility for locals and visitors alike. John also spoke of the valuable support the club gives to the Lifesaving Club and how that assists in maintaining vital Lifesaving equipment.

Chef Paul Tait was thrilled when his Best Club Chef nomination turned into Gold, he acknowledged his fellow staff members for the ongoing support and teamwork that is part of the culture of the club as a whole. Paul’s attention to detail and pride in everything he does reflect in his varied menu and the many return visits by diners.

John said while congratulating Paul for his passion and obvious culinary skills and flair, it was wonderful that the best Club Chef was taken out by a Sunshine Coast venue and in particular Coolum which is currently attracting more and more visitors wishing to experience the best the coast has to offer.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!
